The Flashback of Fashion Trends that made it to every fashionistas wardrobe.
2019 has been a year full of chaos and adventure. And, when it comes to fashion, this year has definitely kept us on our toes.
Fashion, as a whole, was seen taking long and progressive strides. Not only celebrities but also fashion influencers from Instagram were able to redefine and enhance what being trendy really means.
And what about you? Were you on the same page as 2019’s fashion trends? If you feel like you were not, then worry no more, because Tistabene is here to reiterate fashion terms that were constantly used this year.
1. KNIFE PLEATS
Sounds lethal, doesn’t it?! It’s the opposite. A knife pleat is a technique to create texture, especially seen in skirts that, it is essentially sharp, narrow folds made in the material. These pleats are closely situated, mimicking the paper fan we used to make as a kid.
Such pleats make an individual’s attire edgier and give them a more confident stride. Here, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja wore a Knife Pleat Skirt with an Abstract pop blazer on top from her dapper husband’s label Bhane and looked every inch of cool!
We’re proud of the fact that we have mentioned the iridescent concept before. That means we were on with the times! However, we would be more than happy to explain it once again.
Iridescent fabric is elusive and futuristic, to say the least. Its property is that it reflects rainbow colours when it catches the light. This fashion trend dominated 2019 and was a favourite among many celebrities.
For the GQ 50 Most Influential Young Indians, the Director/Producer, Karan Johar, decided to wear a Black iridescent suit by Bloni. The colours exploded into bouts of delight from all the angles the camera flash captured his outfit.
As you can clearly glean from this outfit alone, iridescent seems to be a straight-up winner when it comes to the best fashion trends of all time and best fashion terms of 2019.
3. EXAGGERATED SLEEVES
If you thought your favorite top’s sleeves could not be exaggerated, then you’re oh so wrong. Because 2019 witnessed the inception of large, puffy, and attention-drawing sleeves in tops that were specially meant for cocktail parties and other late-night events. We’re not exaggerating when we say that we love this fashion term! This year the Chhapaak movie actress Deepika Padukone was seen sporting this trend in various forms on various events.
4. MINIATURE BAGS
A little bit of confusion is warranted as soon as one realizes that 2019 has indeed been the year of Barbie-sized purses that fit practically nothing in them. It was a fad but definitely made headlines in 2019. This picture of Lizzo from the AMAs got viral in secs on the gram along with her celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and many more made this trend a part of their style. What is your thought about it? Cute enough to own or give it a pass.
5. “MONOTONE” PANTSUITS
Don’t relate this fashion term to the word ‘monotonous’ because it is far from that. Monotone pantsuits were seen on almost anyone who wished to uphold the reputation of gender-fluid fashion. ‘Monotone’ here means that one wears the same colored pantsuit from head to toe. This trend is chic and can easily qualify as a classic. This trend has been quite popular with Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities. Many celebrities were oscillating between the monochromatic spectrum this year.
The off-shoulder is a fashion term many could not comprehend properly at first.
You see, off-shoulders is not just a top falling off of your shoulders. It incorporates many types, such as the one with the bell sleeves or the Bardot top. There are many other types too, but we will get into those some other day.
This was Tistabene’s list of fashion trends of 2019 that made headlines on social platform. We hope that you got the recap of 2019 fashion trends and will be able to educate your friends further who still cannot differentiate between iridescent fabric and metallic fabric. We also predict that some of the trends of 2019 will also make a come back in 2020. Like the monochrome pantsuits, checks, statement and larger than life jewellery and accessories.
